Cavallo Leila Limited Edition Long Padded Winter Coat

This is a gorgeous, warm and comfy coat. But as a riding coat it’s not the best. The blurb above states the hood is detachable, it’s not. The hood does clip to the back of the coat to stop it bouncing, so that’s not too much of a problem. Whilst it is a big hood, it’s not big enough to go over a helmet without some restriction in movement, so the hood is basically useless when you are riding. The biggest issue I have with this coat is the statement that you can ride in it……, you can, but without a zip in the back or a vent, the back flap ends up scrunching under your bum at rising trot. Luckily it’s super soft and unlikely to damage your saddle, but it looks silly, and it is a bit uncomfortable. I had originally selected one of the Cavallo coats with a zip in the back, but somehow mistakenly ordered this one instead, but believed the statement that you could ride in it, so I didn’t attempt to exchange it. I am considering taking it to somewhere to have a vent put in the back of it, but very much wish I didn’t have to.
