E.A Mattes products, with the striking quilting, enjoy an outstanding reputation all around the world. Expertly hand made in Europe, bringing you and your horse the most high quality, detailed, and luxurious experience. The rationale behind our products has always been to develop meaningful items that are fundamentally intended to help the horse and make his job easier, yet which are highly functional and super-stylish at the same time, and so provide joy to the rider too.
Durability: we have sourced our raw materials from Australia for almost forty years. We always apply the most stringent selection and quality checks; only around three percent of Australia’s lambskin production is suitable for making into a Mattes product at all, and only Australia has the right sheep farms to meet our quality requirements in sufficient quantities.
Personalisation: All products can be fully customised using the E.A Mattes online configurator. Create your dream saddle pad, girth, halter and more in just a few easy steps! Available in a huge range of quilt finishes, colours, sheepskin options, piping, embroidery, and cuts, we highly recommend checking out the configurator to create a pad that suits your horse, team colours, competition embroidery and much more.
Correction System: All saddle pads and half pads can be created with a shimmable CORRECTION® System, allowing for further individual saddle adjustment.

Washing
Machine washable on a 30 degree, or cold cycle. ALL products with sheepskin MUST STRICTLY be washed using the E.A Mattes Melp, or a specific sheepskin washing detergent. Any regular detergent, bleach, fabric softener or wool detergent cannot be used as this will not care for the sheepskin. DO NOT soak as this will break down and ruin the sheepskin. See further washing instructions here
